Wow. What a great chapter 5. When we look at chapter 5, we see 5 different stories. One thing Ive learned from Moody Bible is that all of the gospels are spirit led. Throughout these stories, I noticed faith, Faithlessness, astonishment, humbleness, and love. You really see the Holy spirit guide Jesus to where he's suppose to go.
The calling of the first disciple's: One day while Jesus was preaching some where by the sea of Galilee, He noticed two boats with a group of men. He got in Simons boat and asked them to lower the net. When the fisher men lowered the net, they caught 2 boat loads of fish. They were never really successful at fishing before. When they saw the boat loads of fish, Simon realized Jesus was Lord and was humbled. He realized he was a sinner and was not worthy of setting foot in front of Jesus. They had some doubt then ended up having faith. (Like us). We tend to not have faith til we see what God is doing in our lives.

Jesus Heals a man with Leoparsy- While Jesus was in the city. A man with Leoparsy ran up to Jesus and asked Him to heal him if He was willing too. Jesus healed the man and said to not tell anyone He healed him but to let everyone see. In this story, you see Jesus' love for us..."I am willing" he said "Be clean!"

Jesus heals and forgives a paralyzed man- One day while Jesus was preaching, some men were carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and made their way to lay the man before Jesus. The men weren't able to go inside so they carried the paralyzed man to the roof and lowered him in front of Jesus. (Luke 5:20) "When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” This story shows perseverance in the sense that the men were persistent on trying to get their friend healed. The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law were disturbed by Jesus forgiving the man. Verses 22-24 shows us how It is easier to repent and seek/ask God for forgiveness and help then for Him to leave is help ourselves.

Jesus calls Levi and eats with sinners- Jesus saw a tax collector by the name of Levi one day while he was out. (v27) Jesus asked Levi to follow him. Levi gave up everything and followed him. Levi held a banquet for Jesus. The Pharisees asked Jesus why he was eating with Sinners. In verses 31-32 Jesus answered that it is because they need help and forgiveness the most. Righteous people and people who were already following him already received forgiveness. We are sick and need a doctor. (Him)

Jesus questioned about fasting- The Pharisees asked Jesus why John's followers had to or oftened fast and pray but Jesus ate with his people. Jesus answered (v 34-39) that there is a time to fast and pray. That time is when he is not with them. You can't not renew yourself and fast while you are still not willing to die to your old self.
